Dr. Catherine Buyrn was inspired to become a Veterinarian from a young age. She grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia with many dogs and cats in her family and knew helping them and their people was her passion. She studied Animal Science at Virginia Tech, then attended Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2022. Out of school, she worked in a rural mixed-animal practice in Virginia, working with cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and other livestock, in addition to dogs and cats. She later moved to Raleigh to be closer to family and began working at Quail Corners in the summer of 2023.

Dr. Buyrn enjoys getting to know her clients and patients and is honored to play a vital role in keeping them healthy and around for a long time with us. Dr. Buyrn prides herself in practicing Fear-Free methods to keep vet visits fun and less stressful for all dogs and cats. She shares her home with two cats, Jack and Roo. Jack loves to go outside for leash walks twice a day and Roo loves to play and share whatever Dr. Buyrn is eating. When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Buyrn loves being outside to exercise or hike, and enjoys cooking, crocheting, and reading.
